Notes on Quarterly Liaison Meeting held Faccenda Offices
Okeford Fitzpaine, 19 June 2006

Present: Faccenda Group A Thiel, M Hack, D Kolb.
Environment Agency Ms E Marshall, T Fowler.
Parish Council M Burt, E Horton.

Apologies: North Dorset District Council (NDDC)

IPPC: T Fowler from the Environment Agency (EA) will be processing the PPC Permit for the chicken farm in Shillingstone Lane and S Newlands will be the Faccenda contact.

Complaints: No issues have been raised with the Parish Council for discussion at this meeting.
Since the last meeting 8 complaints about odour from the factory have been received by the EA. Five of these could not be attributed to the factory either because the wind was in the wrong direction or it was impossible to verify the complaint because of the transient nature of the odour. In 2 complaints the odour was attributable to the Faccenda chicken farm on Shillingstone Lane. One complaint was caused by the smell of live chickens at the factory.
M Burt stated that there has, also, recently been smell arising from the un-sheeted transport of chicken manure, which had not originated from the Faccenda farm, through the village.

Planning Application: The original planning application for the chimney is to be reconsidered by NDDC at a meeting in Sturminster Hall on 4 July. The Parish Council has been promised a copy of the report that will be considered by the Committee. The stack has considerably reduced odour problems in the centre of the village.

Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA): The case to determine whether the Secretary of State should be required to give reasons for his decision not to require an EIA into the chimney is to be re-heard in the Court of Appeal.

Rubber-Wheeled Skips: The EA asked when the new skips would be introduced Faccenda indicated that an order has been placed with the manufacturer by Viridor and pressure will continue to be applied both to the manufacturer and Viridor to get them as soon as possible and to give a date for their provision.

Date of Next Meeting: The Parish Council will let other parties have a suitable date. This will be about 3 months from now.

Thanks: A Thiel was thanked for his attendance at the meeting.

The meeting closed at 1050.
