Following residents’ concerns over the availability of road salt during the winter weather at the start of 2011, three new grit bins were ordered for location in a few key areas around Okeford Fitzpaine.
With the good weather drawing to an end, the first of these new bins has now been installed at the bottom of Okeford Hill by a small volunteer group.
Two further bins will be installed in residential areas of the village in the near future, and we hope that their presence will further improve the safety of residents and visitors in the event of bad weather conditions.
Our sincere thanks go to the volunteers installing the bins, and to the local residents who will ensure that the bins are maintained and available when they are needed the most.
